William Kimball

William Kimball caught his first wave at Jupiter Inlet as a teenager and never looked back. After years of competing and refining his craft along Florida's coastline, he turned his passion into a purpose — founding Blue Water School of Surfing in 1996 with a simple mission: share the joy of surfing safely and authentically.

What started as a one-man operation on the legendary Jupiter Beach Park sandbar grew into Palm Beach County's most trusted surf school. William's philosophy was always the same: every student, regardless of age or ability, deserves patient, personalized instruction in a safe environment where they can genuinely fall in love with the ocean.

Today, Blue Water is home to a small team of passionate, certified instructors who share William's values. Many of them were students here first — the ultimate testament to what this place means to the community.

Over three decades later, William still paddles out with every class. "The look on someone's face when they catch their first wave never gets old," he says. "That's why I do this."

The Magic of Jupiter Inlet

Not every surf school has access to a world-class sandbar. We do.

Jupiter Beach Park's sandbar at the Inlet is something special. Protected from deep-water swells by its shallow, gently-sloping bottom, it produces consistent, mellow waves that are absolutely perfect for learning — yet fun enough to keep experienced surfers coming back every session.

The warm Gulf Stream waters, minimal crowds compared to South Florida's busier breaks, and the iconic Jupiter Inlet lighthouse as a backdrop make this one of the most beautiful places in the state to learn to surf.

We've been at this exact spot for over 30 years. We know every shift in the tide, every change in the sandbar shape, every season of the year. That local knowledge is something no app or algorithm can replicate — and it means your family surfs safer and smarter.

The Blue Water Philosophy

Three decades of teaching has given us strong opinions about what makes a great surf school.

Safety First — Always

Every session begins and ends with safety. We monitor conditions daily, maintain certified instructors, and enforce strict student-to-instructor ratios. A fun session is a safe session.

Patient, Personal Instruction

We believe in teaching at each student's pace. No rushing, no cookie-cutter lessons. We meet every surfer where they are and progress at the speed that builds genuine confidence — and genuine skill.

Community Over Competition

Surfing is for everyone. We foster a welcoming, inclusive environment where students cheer each other on. Many of our campers return year after year, building friendships that last well beyond the summer.

Ocean Stewardship

We teach respect for the ocean alongside how to ride it. Our students leave knowing ocean safety, surf etiquette, and a genuine love of the natural world that will serve them for a lifetime.

Real Results, Real Fun

Students who come to Blue Water leave standing up. Our proven curriculum gets total beginners riding waves in their very first lesson — and keeps them smiling long after they towel off.

A Love That Lasts

Our biggest pride? The campers who started with us at age 8 who now bring their own kids. Surfing is a gift that keeps giving — and we're honored to be part of so many families' stories.
